Because I said I would Co-Founder Amanda Messer delivers keynote speeches about the importance of honoring your promises. She tells emotional and inspiring stories that have been shared with her through because I said I would. She also speaks to her personal experiences with promises and in leading the international social movement. Each keynote ends with a strong call-to-action activity that connects the Promise Cards to the lives of the audience. Because I said I would’s work has been featured on CNN, ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, the TODAY Show, Good Morning America, the Steve Harvey Show and many other programs.

Mr. Hughes has lived in the Atlanta area for about 28 years and began his professional career in Georgia with Cobb County in April 1996 as the Intergovernmental Coordinator in the Community Development Agency. In October 1998, he was promoted to a leadership role as head of Economic Development for Cobb County. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), a graduate of Leadership Cobb (Class of 1999), successfully completed Cobb County’s EXCEL Management Development Program (Class of 1998-2000), the Regional Leadership Institute Program (a program sponsored by the Atlanta Regional Commission, October 1999), and the Chamber’s Honorary Commanders Program (2000).

Harlan has been in the mortgage industry for over 20 years and has worked with all types of loans. His specialty and favorite has always been working amongst the 62 plus age group with over 1,000 Reverse Mortgages which has been the most rewarding part of his career. He is now the Reverse Mortgage Director for Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation.  The goal of Harlan and Fairway is to change the way retirement is done for baby boomers in this country. There is a perfect storm and a retirement crisis that can be avoided if we properly manage the trillions of dollars in home equity.
