 Family Law & Trusts

Presented by Tina Roddenberry & Bryan Galat

 Tina Roddenberry

Tina Shadix Roddenbery has focused her practice on all aspects of family and domestic relations law, including divorce, custody, support modification, legitimation, paternity, and contempt since 1987. An unparalleled commitment to her clients is reflected in her proven results, priority to responsiveness and dedication to the well-being of every client. Ms. Roddenbery, a recognized leader in the Family Law Bar in the State of Georgia, is a popular speaker on family-law topics throughout Georgia, has published many articles on family law for Continuing Legal Education seminars, and is a co-author of family law legislation. She is one of a handful board certified family law lawyers in the State of Georgia, becoming certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in 2014. She has been interviewed by CNN and other broadcast, Internet and print media regarding family law issues. In addition to trial experience, she has extensive expertise in resolving cases by mediation and settlement, having mediated hundreds of cases on behalf of clients. She is also a fully-trained mediator and late-case evaluator.

Ms. Roddenbery also served as President of the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and on the Advisory Board for Atlanta Legal Aid Society. She served from 2010 to 2016 on the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education (ICJE) which bears primary responsibility for basic training and continuing education of elected officials, court support personnel, and volunteer agents of the State’s judicial branch.

A 1984 cum laude graduate of The University of Georgia (UGA), Ms. Roddenbery earned her law degree from UGA in 1987.

Bryan Galat

Bryan P. Galat has devoted his entire career to helping his clients identify and meet their planning goals in the area of “family wealth planning”, which he defines to include tax minimization, asset preservation, and succession planning, since 2001.

While there are a number of “estate planning” attorneys across the country, Bryan’s practice is focused not only upon what happens upon one’s death or disability, but also upon ways to reduce taxes and protect wealth during one’s lifetime.  Further, in addition to focusing upon an individual’s financial capital, he works with families to help them define the values that are most important to them as a family, and seeks to assist families in passing along not just a legacy of financial wealth, but also social, intellectual, and spiritual capital.  Bryan co-founded DearthGalat LLC with his friend and partner, Marc Dearth, with a focus on meeting the family wealth planning needs for high net worth individuals and their families.

Bryan has practiced exclusively in the family wealth planning arena from day 1 of his practice.  He started as an associate with an international tax practice based out of London before moving to Atlanta where we worked with a mid-size firm followed by a boutique, both in their tax and estate planning groups.  Finally, he and Marc launched DearthGalat in December 2015.

Bryan earned his A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1998, and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2001.  He is licensed to practice in Georgia, New York, and Connecticut.
